Jill Tydor grew up on the banks of the Mississippi catching tadpoles and stories that drifted downstream.
Her origin story starts in Baton Rouge, Louisiana - a place that tends to weave through a lot of the narrative of her fiction writing. Raised in the South (including stints in North Carolina and Texas), Jill received her BA in Journalism at the University of Oklahoma, and her MFA in Creative Writing from California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
Storytelling has been the throughline for much of her life. Jill began her career as a copy editor and page designer at a small community newspaper, before moving to San Francisco and freelancing concert reviews and thought pieces for indie publications. Shifting to hospitality after the 2008 recession, Jill found another creative outlet producing events in the art world. She has worked with the SFMOMA, the de Young Museum, and the Legion of Honor on a number of high profile events including the Modern Ball, the Cartier-sponsored Mid-Winter Gala, FOG Art + Design Fair, and the annual Bouquets to Arts.
